Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care on a 30-bed telemetry Ortho-Neuro unit
• Monitor patients continuously via telemetry and interpret EKG changes accurately
• Manage patient loads safely with assigned ratios (typically 1:5–1:6) while prioritizing critical needs
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, therapists, and support staff — to optimize patient outcomes
• Provide patient and family education about procedures, medications, and discharge plans
• Respond promptly to emergencies and escalate concerns according to unit protocol
• Participate in unit quality improvement, safety initiatives, and competency assessments

Qualifications

• Active RN license with Nursys verification (must be verifiable)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• Telemetry and EKG experience required; demonstrated Ortho-Neuro clinical experience preferred
• EPIC experience is a must — comfortable with electronic charting and workflows
• DCI/BVP certification listed and preferred
• Completion of Prime Basic Pharmacology, Prime Specialty, Prime Core Competencies, and Prime Skills Checklist as part of onboarding/testing
• Ability to pass standard pre-employment screenings: 10-panel drug screen, fit test, TB screening, and required immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hep B, Influenza)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation skills
• Solid Ortho-Neuro clinical judgment and post-op care experience
• Proficiency with EPIC for documentation, orders, and communication
• Excellent patient-centered communication and customer-service mindset
• Time management and patient-ratio prioritization in a busy med-surg/telemetry setting
• Adaptability and flexibility with rotating schedules and holiday coverage
• Familiarity with Prime testing and competency verification processes
