Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory testing and accurately report results to support patient care decisions
• Maintain strict quality control and documentation in accordance with CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489)
• Process and handle specimens safely and efficiently to preserve sample integrity
• Participate in competency evaluations such as Prime Core Competencies and Prime Specialty exams
• Collaborate with nursing and clinical teams to prioritize tests and communicate critical findings
• Ensure equipment is calibrated, troubleshooted, and maintained to laboratory standards
• Adhere to infection control, safety policies, and facility-specific protocols at all times

Qualifications

• Current and valid state Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license (required)
• Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution (required)
• Minimum two years of hospital laboratory work experience (required)
• ASCP certification or equivalent (preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
• DCI/BVP and successful completion of Prime Core/Skills/Specialty examinations as part of credentialing
• Ability to pass required health screenings, immunizations, drug screen and background checks

Education

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological science OR Medical Laboratory Technology (accredited program)

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical Laboratory Science fundamentals and Medical Laboratory Technology best practices
• Hands-on hospital laboratory experience and familiarity with hospital workflows
• Working knowledge of CLIA regulations (42 CFR 493.1489) and license/certificate verification processes
• Competence preparing for and completing Prime Core Competencies, Skills Checklist and Specialty exams
• Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and commitment to patient-focused laboratory service
• Comfort with standard lab screenings and health requirements (drug screen, fit test, immunizations)
