Roles & Responsibilities

• Facilitate safe, efficient perioperative care by serving as the OR circulator throughout surgical procedures
• Maintain aseptic technique and ensure the sterile field while anticipating surgical team needs
• Coordinate supplies, equipment checks, and instrument availability to keep cases on schedule
• Perform patient advocacy and monitoring: confirm patient identity, position, and safety during procedures
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to support smooth workflow
• Document intraoperative events, counts, and nursing interventions accurately in the medical record
• Participate in competency exams and skills checklists to maintain high clinical standards

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted RN license (Nursys verification required)
• Active BLS and ACLS certifications
• DCI/BVP certification as listed in the required credentials
• Perioperative/OR circulator experience and comfort working in fast-paced surgical environments (experience preferred but new periop travelers considered)
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, take scheduled on-call days, and cover occasional weekend assignments
• Completion of required health screenings and immunizations (drug screen, TB, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, influenza, Hep B, COVID-19 as specified)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN/BSN or equivalent) preferred
• Active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Proficiency in instrument and supply management in the OR
• Excellent situational awareness and patient safety focus
• Clear, calm communication with multidisciplinary surgical teams
• Comfort with documentation and completion of specialty exams and competencies
• Adaptability to rotating schedules and on-call duties
