Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for post-stroke and neuro interventional patients in a 30-bed Neuro Stroke Unit
• Perform focused neurological assessments and document NIHSS scores to drive timely interventions
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and perform EKGs accurately and promptly when indicated
• Use EPIC to chart patient status, medications, and care plans with clear, concise documentation
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate safe, patient-centered care
• Respond to changes in patient condition, escalate concerns, and assist in emergency interventions
• Educate patients and families about stroke recovery, medications, and discharge planning
• Float to similar units as needed while maintaining standards of care and patient safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license with Nursys verification (required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification and competency in neuro stroke assessments
• DCI/BVP certification listed as required
• Demonstrated ability to perform EKGs and basic rhythm interpretation
• Experience with EPIC or similar electronic medical records
• Previous Neuro Stepdown, Stroke Unit, or Telemetry experience preferred
• Ability to float to like units and adapt to varied clinical settings
• Required pre-employment health screenings and vaccinations as listed (TB testing, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hep B, Fit Test, etc.)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of stroke care pathways and post-interventional monitoring
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms
• Proficiency in EPIC documentation and electronic medication administration
• Skilled in neurological assessment, including NIHSS scoring
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and patients/families
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
• Comfort with neuro interventional care and post-procedure observation
