Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on nursing care for Mercy LIFE participants
- Administer medications and follow physician orders accurately and safely
- Perform routine assessments and monitor vital signs, reporting changes promptly
- Document care thoroughly and maintain clear, timely charting in the EHR
- Assist with activities of daily living and promote patient independence
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support care plans and goals
- Follow infection control policies and maintain a safe environment
- Respond professionally to participant needs and emergencies
Qualifications
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Alabama (or eligible to obtain)
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or required per facility
- Required immunizations and health screenings as listed: MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, Physical/Health Statement, 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon), COVID-19 vaccine, Influenza vaccine
- Negative Trinity 10 Panel drug screen and ability to pass background checks
- Comfortable working in home- and community-based care settings
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered attitude
Education
- Diploma or certificate in Practical Nursing from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication administration and basic wound care knowledge
- Patient assessment and documentation best practices
- Familiarity with electronic health records and charting
- Infection control and standard precautions
- Time management and ability to prioritize multiple patients
- Empathy, active listening, and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a care team
