Shift Type: Variable shifts: 10-hour day shifts Monday-Thursday; 8-hour shifts on weekends; a 16-hour night role covered by one NNP 4 nights per week. No call. (Day and night coverage; rotating responsibilities across clinicians)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert neonatal care in a Level-III NICU, delivering compassionate, high-quality treatment to critically ill newborns
- Manage advanced respiratory support including high-frequency ventilation and nitric oxide administration
- Perform therapeutic hypothermia (brain cooling) protocols and monitor outcomes closely
- Collaborate with neonatologists and subspecialty teams to create and implement individualized care plans
- Lead bedside procedures, resuscitations and hands-on critical care interventions when needed
- Document assessments and care plans accurately and contribute to clinical handoffs
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and safety practices to advance NICU outcomes
- Precept and support learners through the clinical appointment with Mercer Medical School
Qualifications
- NNP Board Certified — candidates must hold NNP certification (FNP, PNP or other NP certifications will not be accepted)
- Minimum current 2+ years of employment experience as an NNP (RN experience does not count toward this requirement)
- Not accepting new graduate candidates
- Not accepting locum tenens candidates
- Experience working in or supporting a Level-III NICU is highly relevant (experience with high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide, and brain cooling preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep familiarity with neonatal critical care practices and NICU workflows
- Clinical experience with high-frequency ventilation strategies
- Competence in administering and monitoring nitric oxide therapy
- Knowledge of therapeutic hypothermia (brain cooling) protocols and monitoring
- Ability to collaborate with subspecialty support and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and documentation skills
