Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform one-time, non-treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans
• Conduct thorough medical interviewing to capture service-connected history and current complaints
• Perform focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Complete accurate, timely medical report writing including any required addendums or medical opinions
• Coordinate scheduling and documentation through the VES process and complete required portal training
• Maintain professional boundaries — these are non-treatment exams (no prescribing or ongoing care)

Qualifications

• Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or equivalent clinical credential appropriate for practice in the state
• Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine is welcome
• Experience with Compensation & Pension exams or similar medicolegal/non-treatment assessments is preferred
• Comfort performing focused physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength testing) and interview-based exams
• Ability to complete required VES training and onboarding prior to performing exams
• For provider-owned office roles: office must be within 50 miles of the listed city; for per diem roles: must live within 50-mile radius of home address unless otherwise noted

Education

• Nurse Practitioner (NP) degree or equivalent advanced clinical credential; active state licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical interviewing and focused history-taking
• Physical assessment techniques including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Medical report writing and clear documentation of findings
• Familiarity with non-treatment, one-time exam workflows
• Understanding of Compensation & Pension (C&P) exam objectives and separation health assessments
• Professional communication with patients and administrative teams
