Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with care and professionalism
- Perform thorough interview-based evaluations and focused physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength testing)
- Complete high-quality documentation, timely reports, and necessary addendums
- Provide clear medical opinions and read relevant diagnostics as part of report completion
- Adhere to non-treatment/non-prescribing scope for these exams
- Maintain required credentialing and onboarding items in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with Veterans and the VES team
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) and active license to practice medicine in the assigned state/area
- Board certification or clinical experience in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or General Medicine preferred
- Experience with interview-based exams and basic physical assessment techniques (range of motion and muscle strength testing)
- Comfort documenting clear medical reports, addendums, and medical opinions
- Must be able to work on a PRN basis and meet local office/location requirements (provider-owned office option requires office within 50 miles of the listed city)
- Willingness to complete required onboarding and training prior to provision of exams
Education
- MD or DO (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient interviewing and history-taking with attention to detail
- Focused physical assessment skills, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Strong clinical documentation and report-writing abilities
- Ability to interpret diagnostic information relevant to exam findings
- Familiarity with non-treatment, evaluation-only exam workflows
- Organizational skills to manage required follow-up administrative work
