Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist CVOR surgeons directly during cardiac, thoracic and vascular procedures with precision and confidence
• Perform open and endoscopic vein harvests and support endoluminal AAA and thoracic cases
• Control bleeding and maintain hemostasis to ensure a safe surgical field
• Provide excellent wound exposure and perform suturing as needed during procedures
• Manage instrumentation and maintain sterile technique throughout cases
• Document intraoperative events and communicate clearly with the surgical team and perioperative staff
• Support pre-op and post-op patient care transitions and safety checks
• Contribute to a collaborative OR environment and mentor peers when appropriate

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with current license
• RNFA certification required
• At least 2-3 years of RN First Assistant/CVOR experience
• Proficiency in CABG, MVR, TAVR, AVR and other cardiothoracic procedures
• Experience with open and endoscopic leg vein harvest techniques
• Experience with endoluminal AAA, CEAs and broad vascular surgery assistance

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) — required
• RNFA certification — required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong CVOR knowledge and comfort in fast-paced operative environments
• Advanced suturing and wound exposure techniques
• Hemostasis expertise and the ability to anticipate surgeon needs
• Familiarity with open and endoscopic vein harvest procedures
• Excellent communication, teamwork and intraoperative decision-making skills
• Solid documentation and perioperative safety practices
