Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ED and inpatient hold patient ratios with confidence and clinical judgment
• Perform thorough patient assessments and prioritize care based on acuity
• Provide safe and effective nursing care during overnight hours, including medication administration and monitoring
• Collaborate with ED and inpatient teams to coordinate transitions and maintain continuity of care
• Use triage principles and acuity-based staffing strategies to allocate resources appropriately
• Document care accurately and timely, ensuring clear handoffs each shift
• Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical readiness

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (license/certificate verification required)
• BLS, PALS, ACLS and TNCC certifications required
• Must be able to safely manage ED and inpatient hold ratios and acuity-based assignments
• Completion of Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and Trinity skills checklist
• Meet health screening requirements: fit test, respirator evaluation, immunizations (Tdap, COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Varicella), TB screening, physical, and drug screen

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing processes and triage principles
• Acuity-based staffing and patient acuity assessment
• Inpatient hold workflow and ED-to-inpatient coordination
• Strong critical thinking and rapid decision-making during night shifts
• Clear, empathetic communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Proficient documentation and handoff practices for overnight care
