Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate respiratory care and patient assessments using best practices
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment and ventilators safely
• Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record
• Participate fully in orientation and unit-based training to maintain competence
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care, equipment use, and discharge plans
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist license for Missouri or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; advanced certifications such as ACLS are a plus
• Comfortable with ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and airway management
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and a patient-centered mindset
• Willingness to complete facility orientation and onboarding

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and weaning strategies
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
• Airway management techniques and oxygen therapy
• Familiarity with respiratory care protocols and infection control
• Proficient documentation in electronic medical records
• Ability to triage and prioritize patient care in busy settings
