Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care for critically ill adult and pediatric patients in the ICU, delivering treatments and monitoring respiratory function
• Operate and manage ventilators and advanced airway equipment while adjusting settings per clinical orders and protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary ICU teams to develop and implement patient-centered respiratory plans of care
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses accurately in Epic charting
• Float between like units to meet facility needs and ensure continuous, safe patient coverage
• Adhere to hospital policies for nights, weekends and holiday coverage and participate in required makeup shifts when called
• Support a culture of safety and quality by following infection control and trauma center procedures

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical respiratory therapy experience (explicit requirement)
• Active respiratory care licensure (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Comfortable and experienced working with both pediatric and adult ICU patients
• Experience or comfort working night shifts, weekends and holidays
• Ability to float between like units as needed and follow facility scheduling/RTO policies
• Familiarity with Epic charting (charting system used by the facility)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong respiratory therapy and ICU care knowledge
• Pediatric and adult critical care respiratory management
• Skilled in ventilator management and airway support
• Proficient with Epic electronic health record documentation
• Ability to work independently on night shift and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Adaptability to float between similar units and meet staffing needs
• Understanding of trauma center workflows (facility is a Level III Trauma Center / teaching hospital)
