Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care specifically for pediatric patients
• Perform thorough pre-op assessments and document patient status in the medical record
• Prepare patients and families for surgery by educating and addressing concerns
• Collaborate with perioperative team members to ensure safe, timely patient flow
• Monitor vital signs and clinical status; escalate concerns to the surgical team as needed
• Assist with pre-operative procedures and ensure proper equipment and supplies are ready
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of pediatric care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (WA licensure required or eligibility)
• Experience or demonstrated competency in pediatric nursing and pre-operative care
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with children and their families
• Ability to work collaboratively in a perioperative team environment
• Willingness to complete facility orientation and onboarding

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of pediatric pre-operative assessment and perioperative protocols
• Skill with patient/family education and age-appropriate communication
• Familiarity with IV starts, medication administration, and monitoring pediatric vitals
• Comfortable using electronic health records and documenting nursing care accurately
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced surgical setting
