Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
Monitor and interpret vital signs, labs and monitor alarms to detect changes quickly
Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately according to orders
Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists and multidisciplinary team members
Educate and support families and caregivers during stressful moments
Document patient care thoroughly in the medical record and participate in care planning
Participate in orientation, unit initiatives and quality improvement projects

Qualifications

Current, active RN license (California) — required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — required
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) — preferred or newly obtained during onboarding
Previous PICU or pediatric critical care experience preferred
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced critical care environment

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Foundational knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and protocols
Experience with ventilator basics and pediatric respiratory support
Skilled in medication administration, infusion pumps and titrated drips
Effective family-centered communication and patient education
Comfortable with electronic medical record documentation and care coordination
