Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Assess, monitor, and document patient status using thorough clinical judgment
• Administer medications and therapies safely according to hospital protocol
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists, and support staff for coordinated care
• Participate in orientation and training to maintain unit standards and best practices
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with families to support family-centered care
• Contribute to a culture of safety by following infection control and safety protocols

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Ohio) required; compact license accepted if applicable
• Experience or training in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) settings preferred
• Current BLS required; PALS, ACLS, or other pediatric critical care certifications highly desirable
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary critical care team
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and documentation skills
• Willingness to complete required orientation for the unit

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric critical care principles and bedside assessment
• Familiarity with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Safe IV/medication administration and titration practices
• Effective communication with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency with electronic medical record documentation (EMR/charting)
• Ability to prioritize, triage, and respond in fast-paced critical situations
