Shift Type: Rotating schedule including weekends; typical day shift 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM (Day shift). Night coverage is part of unit staffing and may be required as part of rotation.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-operative and progressive cardiac/vascular stepdown care to complex patients
• Monitor telemetry and respond to changes in cardiac rhythm and hemodynamics
• Manage advanced therapies including epidurals, chest tubes, tube feedings, and IV Glucommander
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive medications safely (phenylephrine, dobutamine, milrinone, etc.)
• Document care accurately in Cerner and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Support unit flow and patient transitions while maintaining patient safety and comfort

Qualifications

• Current RN license (state of North Carolina or compact as applicable)
• ACLS and BLS required
• Minimum 2+ years clinical experience (stepdown/telemetry experience required)
• Experience with post-op cardiac or vascular populations preferred (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA, fem-pop)
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and flexible with scheduling

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical record
• Experience managing epidurals, chest tubes, and tube feedings
• Skilled with IV pump management (Baxter) and CADD epidural pumps
• Competent with cardiac drip titration and critical medication management
• Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills
