Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care for pediatric patients in the PACU
• Perform rapid and accurate assessments of recovery status and vital signs
• Administer medications, fluids and pain management interventions as ordered
• Monitor and manage airways, IVs and other immediate postoperative needs
• Communicate clearly with surgical teams, anesthesiologists and families to ensure smooth handoffs
• Document patient status and interventions thoroughly in the medical record
• Participate in orientation and team briefings to maintain safe, consistent care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio (or compact license eligible)
• Experience or specialization in PACU and pediatric nursing preferred
• Current BLS required; PALS and ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable with pediatric postoperative assessment and interventions
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to complete required orientation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia recovery assessment and monitoring
• Pediatric airway and pain management principles
• IV management, medication administration and vigilance for complications
• Familiarity with EMR documentation and handoff communication
• Family-centered care and clear, compassionate communication
• Ability to prioritize and respond quickly in acute situations
