Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients in the PACU
• Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs and recovery following procedures
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while maintaining safety
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team
• Educate and support families about post-procedure care and recovery expectations
• Accurately document patient status, interventions, and handoffs in the medical record
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns

Qualifications

• Valid RN license (eligible to practice in Ohio preferred)
• Experience or training in PACU and pediatric nursing (RN, PACU, Pediatrics highlighted)
• Current BLS certification required; PALS and ACLS preferred or encouraged
• Comfort with pediatric assessment, pain management, and post-anesthesia protocols
• Strong communication skills for interacting with families and interdisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric post-anesthesia recovery knowledge and monitoring
• Airway management and basic resuscitation skills
• IV therapy, medication administration, and pain management techniques
• Accurate clinical documentation and EMR familiarity
• Ability to work calmly in fast-paced, procedure-oriented settings
• Strong teamwork, situational awareness, and family-centered care approach
