Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients in the PACU
• Closely monitor vital signs and patient status, intervening promptly when needed
• Assess pain and comfort, implement appropriate pain management plans
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, anesthesiologists, families, and the care team
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the medical record
• Participate in safe patient handoffs and discharge planning for PACU patients
• Support a family-centered environment with patience and empathy

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice in Ohio
• Previous PACU experience or strong post-anesthesia care knowledge preferred
• Comfort and experience working with pediatric patients highly desired
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Ability to pass any required background checks and health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a team-first mentality

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of post-anesthesia assessment and recovery protocols
• Skill in pediatric patient assessment, airway management basics, and IV care
• Familiarity with monitoring equipment and interpreting vital signs
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting
• Compassionate bedside manner and clear, calm communication with families
