Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide independent nursing care for up to 5 orthopedic surgical patients each shift, ensuring safety and comfort
• Perform post-operative assessments and ongoing monitoring, addressing changes in condition promptly
• Carry out dressing changes and aspirations with meticulous technique and documentation
• Coordinate and implement pain management plans, administering medications per protocol
• Document all care accurately in the Meditech EMR and communicate clinical updates to the interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families on post-op care, discharge instructions, and rehabilitation expectations
• Collaborate with charge nurses and team members to maintain positive morale and high-quality patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (as stated in the posting)
• Experience working in a surgical unit — must be able to independently manage a 1:5 patient ratio
• Orthopedic experience and pain management experience are preferred
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR is preferred
• Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a team-player attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing and post-operative care best practices
• Surgical unit workflows and postoperative assessment skills
• Meditech EMR documentation and charting proficiency
• Pain management approaches and safe medication administration
• Wound care, dressing changes, and aspiration procedures
• Ability to prioritize care and manage multiple patients safely
