Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional perioperative and postoperative nursing care for orthopedic surgical patients
• Assess patients, monitor vital signs, and respond to changes in condition with urgency and compassion
• Administer medications and assist with pain management according to protocols
• Coordinate with surgeons, therapists, and case management to support continuity of care
• Educate patients and families on postoperative care, mobility, and discharge planning
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (eligible to practice in North Carolina)
• Minimum 2+ years of RN experience (orthopedic surgery experience required/preferred)
• Previous travel nursing experience is a plus
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; advanced certifications welcomed
• Strong teamwork, communication, and critical-thinking skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on knowledge of orthopedic perioperative and postoperative care
• Skill with patient assessment, wound care, and mobility/immobility management
• Medication administration and pain management expertise
• Familiarity with sterile technique and OR/post-anesthesia care processes
• Proficient documentation and comfort working with electronic medical records
• Ability to triage, prioritize, and collaborate in a fast-paced surgical environment
