Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients in the operating room
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure surgical safety protocols are followed
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team for seamless case flow
• Perform thorough pre-op and post-op assessments and document patient status accurately
• Administer medications and manage perioperative patient needs with attention to pediatric specifics
• Educate and support patients’ families with compassion and clear communication
• Participate actively in orientation, unit-based training, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Ohio) — must have current, unrestricted license
• Current BLS required; PALS and perioperative certifications are strongly preferred
• Experience or demonstrable comfort working with pediatric patients and in the OR environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in fast-paced surgical settings
• Willingness to participate in orientation and unit-specific training

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or diploma required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with pediatric assessment and age-appropriate interventions
• Understanding of surgical instrumentation, supplies, and OR workflow
• Comfortable with accurate EHR documentation and perioperative charting
• Ability to anticipate needs, prioritize tasks, and remain calm under pressure
