Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality oncology and women’s surgical nursing care to patients on a 24-bed unit
• Administer medications and assist with procedures such as occasional pelvic exams, echocardiography support and thoracentesis as needed
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and maintain clear, timely clinical notes
• Monitor patient status, manage patient ratios (typically 1:4 or 1:5) and escalate concerns promptly
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications and discharge needs
• Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, HUCs and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care
• Support unit operations and adhere to hospital policies, dress code and safety protocols

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (as indicated in the posting)
• Chemo Certification (preferred)
• Experience with Cerner or similar EMR systems
• Comfortable working in oncology and women’s surgical settings and performing related procedures

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing best practices and medication administration
• Women's surgical care fundamentals and perioperative awareness
• Proficient documentation skills in Cerner EMR
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and triage abilities
• Excellent teamwork, communication and patient education skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced med-surg environment with 1:4–1:5 patient ratios
