Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care on an MS/Telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and promptly identify and respond to dysrhythmias and acute changes
• Manage IV therapy including starting and maintaining peripheral IVs, PICC and central line care
• Administer and document blood product transfusions safely and per protocol
• Support post-operative orthopedic and neurosurgical patients, including chest tubes, drains, traction and wound vac management
• Use rapid response and code team processes effectively when emergencies arise
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social services) to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Document accurately in Epic and maintain clear communication with patients and families

Qualifications

• Active RN license required (pending licenses are not accepted)
• BLS and ACLS required; NIH/NIHSS certification required
• MS/Telemetry experience preferred (posted note indicates 2 years preferred) — first-time travelers accepted
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and 1:5-6 patient ratios on day shift
• Able to float within scope to meet facility needs between like units
• Weekend availability (every other weekend) and participation in on-call rotation

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — must be valid for practice (pending licenses not accepted)
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy, PICC and central line management
• Blood product administration and related safety protocols
• Management of HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP and chest tube systems
• Neurosurgical and orthopedic post-op care (craniotomy, lumbar drains, traction, external fixators)
• Wound care including wound vacs and surgical drain management
• Epic charting proficiency
• Ability to participate in rapid response/code teams and emergency interventions
