Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to pediatric med/surg patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and family members to create effective care plans
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and discharge instructions
• Participate in orientation activities and unit-based learning to ensure competency
• Advocate for patient safety and quality improvement on the unit
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in the electronic medical record

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington or compact state where applicable
• Experience or strong interest in medical-surgical nursing and pediatrics
• BLS certification; pediatric advanced life support (PALS) recommended or supported
• Comfortable with medication administration, IV therapy, and pediatric assessments
• Positive attitude, teamwork mindset, and strong communication skills
• Ability to complete required orientation and competency validation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of pediatric growth, development, and age-appropriate care
• Proficient in patient assessment, triage, and clinical decision-making
• Familiarity with med/surg nursing workflows and documentation best practices
• Skillful in medication preparation, administration, and safety checks
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment
