Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients on the medical-surgical unit to identify changes in condition early
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to physician orders
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute individualized care plans
• Perform and document thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and clinical observations
• Provide patient and family education to support discharge readiness and continuity of care
• Document care and interventions in the electronic health record in a timely and accurate manner
• Advocate for patient needs and ensure high standards of safety and quality are met

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Louisiana
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Medical-Surgical nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced unit
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical patient care principles and best practices
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Proficiency with electronic health record documentation
• Strong assessment and clinical decision-making abilities
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple patients safely
