Roles & Responsibilities

• Attend and independently manage labor and delivery cases, ensuring safe, evidence-based care for mothers and newborns
• Circulate in C-sections and function confidently in the OR setting alongside anesthesia and OB teams
• Assist with newborn transition, including catching babies and immediate neonatal stabilization/transition
• Provide individualized postpartum care for mother-baby couplets, including routine newborn assessments
• Monitor and titrate common infusions (Magnesium, Pitocin, Insulin) per unit protocols
• Utilize EPIC and Centricity-Perinatal for accurate electronic charting and fetal monitoring documentation
• Collaborate with in-house OBGYN/hospitalist, NNP, and unit staff to triage and manage emergent cases
• Participate in unit workflows, accept constructive feedback, and adapt to facility policies to maintain high-quality care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (WA or compact RN acceptable); ability to submit license for credentialing
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery/LDRP experience (1 year considered if candidate has multiple prior travel assignments)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• Comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections
• Experience with EPIC electronic charting and Centricity Perinatal is highly preferred
• Competency in titrating drips (Magnesium, Pitocin, Insulin) and managing high-risk obstetric diagnoses
• Prefer intermediate/advanced fetal heart monitoring (FHM) certification or competency
• No first-time travel nurses — prior travel experience preferred

Education

• Current RN licensure (Washington or compact) required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing required; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery workflow and standards (including AWHONN staffing/ratio familiarity)
• Postpartum and mother-baby care, newborn transition assessment
• Fetal monitoring interpretation and the Centricity-Perinatal EFM system
• Electronic health record proficiency (EPIC)
• OR circulation for C-sections and perioperative maternal care
• Titration and monitoring of common obstetric infusions
• Strong communication and teamwork with OB, anesthesia, NNP/NNP teams
• Ability to work triage, high-acuity and complex maternal cases (33 weeks and above, preeclampsia, diabetes, substance use, psychosocial complexities)
