Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care nursing for adult ICU patients across MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU and stepdown areas
• Manage ventilator support and troubleshoot respiratory needs in collaboration with RTs
• Safely titrate and manage critical drips including pressors, sedatives, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin
• Interpret telemetry strips independently and act quickly on changes in cardiac rhythm
• Deliver one-on-one or one-to-two nursing care depending on patient acuity and flex to 1:3 when needed
• Float between hospitals in Zone 1, adapting to different unit workflows and EMR environments
• Act as a confident team player during codes and rapid responses, communicating clearly with physicians and the care team
• Maintain meticulous documentation in EPIC and uphold unit policies and safety standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the appropriate jurisdiction (able to submit license for credentialing)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; if first-time travel nurse, 3+ years of ICU experience and EPIC experience preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required
• Comfortable titrating critical drips and managing advanced cardiac and respiratory support
• Experience with ICU modalities such as CRRT, IABP, Impella is highly desirable
• Ability to float across units and facilities within a 60-mile radius; reliable transportation and willingness to secure housing accordingly
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and ability to work autonomously on night shifts

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN acceptable)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management: Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, and bedside troubleshooting
• Telemetry interpretation and rhythm recognition without monitor tech support
• Titration of critical drips and vasoactive medications
• Familiarity with EPIC charting and electronic documentation workflows
• Experience in MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU settings and float-pool adaptability
• Awareness of advanced support devices such as CRRT, IABP, and Impella
