Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide rapid, high-quality emergency nursing care for a diverse patient population including trauma, stroke, sepsis, DKA and complex cardiology patients
• Perform focused assessments and initiate protocol-driven interventions (labs, EKGs, medications, imaging) to stabilize patients
• Establish IV/IO access and utilize ultrasound-guided IV techniques when indicated
• Interpret EKGs and escalate care appropriately for cardiac events
• Use critical thinking to prioritize care and manage patient flow in a busy ED environment
• Collaborate closely with physicians, ED techs, and department coordinators to ensure safe handoffs and continuity of care
• Operate and monitor unit equipment (Alaris pumps, Lucas device, Hotline Rapid Infuser, Pyxis) safely and effectively
• Document accurately in Sunrise/Allscripts EMR and follow unit protocols and standing orders

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (able to practice in New Hampshire or through compact state privileges)
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience for contract candidates
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC required for contract labor (MOAB desirable for some hires)
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated dependability and punctuality; ability to work every other weekend
• Experience with EMR systems (Sunrise/Allscripts) and familiarity with medical terminology

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and trauma care
• Stroke care and rapid assessment for time-sensitive conditions
• IV insertion (including ultrasound-guided) and IO insertion
• EKG performance and interpretation
• Psychiatric and cardiopulmonary patient care in the ED setting
• Experience with Alaris pumps, Pyxis, Lucas device, and rapid infusers
• Comfortable with protocol-driven orders and independent initiation of workups
