Roles & Responsibilities

• Verify and accurately dispense medications for inpatient populations, ensuring patient safety
• Perform medication verification and review dosing for complex therapies like vancomycin, aminoglycosides and anticoagulants
• Supervise and guide pharmacy technicians in sterile compounding (IV) and pyxis/Pak Edge operations
• Use DoseEdge and Meditech to verify compounded preparations and maintain accurate medication records
• Provide clinical support for pain consults, first doses, and emergency medication boxes
• Collaborate with nursing and provider teams to optimize medication therapy and support patient care transitions
• Participate in medication reconciliation and quality improvement initiatives on the unit

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited Pharmacy School (required)
• Licensed to practice Pharmacy in Missouri (MO Pharmacist License required)
• Minimum 2 years of pharmacy experience (inpatient experience preferred)
• Demonstrated competency in sterile compounding (IV) and medication verification
• Familiarity with DoseEdge, Pyxis and Meditech (experience with PakEdge a plus)
• ACLS and BLS preferred
• NICU experience is a plus for those with neonatal practice background

Education

• Degree from an accredited Pharmacy School

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of inpatient pharmacy workflows and medication safety practices
• Proficiency with DoseEdge, Pyxis, PakEdge and Meditech EMR systems
• Skilled in sterile compounding checks, aseptic technique and IV verification
• Ability to supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians effectively
• Excellent clinical judgment for dosing adjustments and therapeutic monitoring
• Clear communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
