Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, direct psychiatric care to patients in a correctional mental health setting
• Observe, document, and report changes in patient behavior and clinical status accurately and promptly
• Support implementation of treatment plans under clinician guidance and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team
• Use de-escalation techniques and safe-personnel practices to manage crises and maintain a secure environment
• Participate in the two-week training, follow facility protocols, and contribute to a culture of safety and professionalism

Qualifications

• Valid Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) credential in good standing (state-appropriate licensure expected)
• Available to work the posted schedule: Thursday–Monday (assigned as Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday), 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
• Willingness to complete the required two-week training at the start of the assignment
• Professional, reliable, and comfortable working in a correctional healthcare environment

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved LPT training program (state requirements apply)
• Current LPT licensure required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong observation and documentation skills for behavioral health settings
• Basic de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques
• Ability to follow clinical direction and work collaboratively with mental health professionals
• Familiarity with safety protocols and maintaining patient security in a correctional setting
• Good communication skills and professional bedside manner
