Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, safe nursing care to residents during the overnight shift
- Perform timely patient assessments and document changes in condition
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and within scope
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support care plans
- Respond promptly to emergent situations and escalate appropriately
- Support resident comfort and safety during evenings and night hours
- Communicate clearly with day staff to ensure seamless continuity of care
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to practice in Alabama)
- Recent clinical experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or similar setting preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered mindset
- Ability to work independently during overnight shifts and prioritize tasks effectively
Education
- LPN: Practical Nursing diploma or certificate (as applicable)
- RN: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and documentation best practices
- Medication administration and charting
- Basic wound care and infection control procedures
- Familiarity with long-term care/skilled nursing workflows
- Ability to handle nocturnal resident needs calmly and efficiently
- Team collaboration and clear shift-to-shift handoffs
