Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality bedside care during overnight shifts to keep patients safe and comfortable.
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor changes in condition, escalating concerns to the care team as needed.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and in accordance with facility policies.
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in the medical record so the next shift has everything they need.
• Collaborate with nurses, providers, and support staff to coordinate care and improve patient outcomes.
• Respond quickly and calmly to urgent situations and assist in emergency interventions when necessary.
• Teach and support patients and families with discharge instructions and ongoing care needs.

Qualifications

• Active LPN or RN license (eligible to practice in Alabama) — you must be legally able to work.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS or PALS a plus if applicable to your role.
• Comfortable working overnight shifts and managing acute patient needs.
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to document accurately.
• Previous experience in acute care, long-term care, or similar settings is preferred but motivated new grads may be considered depending on role.

Education

• LPN: Completion of an accredited practical nursing program and state licensure.
• RN: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and state licensure.

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and monitoring — spotting trends matters.
• Medication administration and safe documentation practices.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and charting.
• Infection control and standard precautions.
• Team collaboration, clear communication, and patient/family education.
• Time management and prioritization during busy night shifts.
