Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Silver Spring, MD

Shift Type: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (night shift; days not specified)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $22 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
Support residents with bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility needs
Monitor residents' condition and report changes to the nursing team
Document care accurately and timely to maintain continuity and safety
Assist with safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and colleagues to deliver person-centered care
Help maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents

Qualifications

Current GNA certification or completion of a state-approved GNA program
State certification or eligibility to be certified in Maryland
Comfortable working night shifts (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Clear background check and any required state/state registry checks
Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered approach
Prior experience in geriatric or long-term care preferred

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
Completion of a state-approved GNA training program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic geriatric care
Familiarity with infection control and safe hygiene practices
Ability to document care clearly and follow care plans
Basic mobility assistance and safe transfer techniques
Good observation skills and ability to escalate clinical changes appropriately
Team-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills
