Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem evenings, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Shift 2, evening)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming
Support safe mobility and transfers while promoting independence
Provide attentive feeding support and mealtime assistance as needed
Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team
Maintain accurate documentation and follow care plans
Create a calm, respectful, and compassionate environment for residents
Assist with basic toileting and incontinence care with dignity and privacy
Participate in team communication and handoffs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

GNA certification required
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
Prior experience in long term care or geriatric support is a plus
Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements
Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach
Reliable, punctual, and able to work evening shifts on a per diem basis

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
GNA certification or state-approved equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of basic elderly care practices and infection control
Comfortable assisting with transfers, walking programs, and mobility aids
Familiarity with documentation best practices and basic charting
Good observational skills to notice and report changes in condition
Strong interpersonal skills to engage residents and family members
