Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night 3x12-Hour, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (primarily nights); weekends and schedule variations as needed; may require occasional day shifts (7:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM). Call and float required.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $44 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Scrub and assist in complex procedures across trauma, neuro, vascular, robotics, ortho and general surgery — be the steady hand the team relies on
- Prepare, maintain and troubleshoot specialized OR equipment (microscope, laparoscopic camera/tower, arthroscope, case/cart systems)
- Ensure aseptic technique and uphold sterilization and universal protocol (time out) practices for every case
- Anticipate surgeon needs and manage instruments, supplies, and implants efficiently during high-acuity cases
- Float across units and respond to call needs with professionalism and flexibility
- Document perioperative care and instrumentation usage per facility policy
- Participate in team huddles and contribute to a culture of safety, continuous learning, and excellent patient care
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years OR experience required (candidates with ~5 years preferred)
- Trauma Level I experience is a hard requirement — experience in ortho, neuro, vascular and robotics is a must
- Current CST certification preferred; NBSTSA certification a plus
- BLS required
- California state license preferred; pending CA license accepted
- Previous travel experience required (first-time travelers not considered)
- Ability to take call, float between units, and work variable weekends and shifts
- Comfortable with advanced instrumentation and robotic systems (Da Vinci Xi preferred)
Education
- Surgical Technology certificate or diploma preferred
- CST certification preferred; BLS required
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing and OR flow — you know the rhythm of a busy room
- Aseptic technique, sterilization/disinfection, and universal protocol (time out)
- Proficiency with microscope, laparoscopic camera & tower, and arthroscope equipment (required)
- Experience with trauma, spinal fusion, craniotomy, EVAR and other specialty cases
- Familiarity with case cart and crash cart processes and cell saver operations
- Comfort supporting robotic-assisted surgery (da Vinci systems) and navigation stations
- Strong airway management awareness and ability to support emergent situations
