Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, respectful personal care to residents with dignity
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting
• Monitor and document resident condition, reporting changes to the nursing team
• Support mobility and fall prevention through safe transfer and ambulation techniques
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to maintain a clean environment
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Help create a warm, home-like atmosphere that promotes resident well-being

Qualifications

• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
• Current state GNA or CNA certification in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or required based on facility policy
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
• Must be able to pass background checks and required health screenings
• Strong interpersonal skills and a patient, compassionate approach to care

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Competence with ADL assistance and safe resident handling
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Good communication and teamwork abilities
• Awareness of infection control and standard precautions
• Ability to work independently and manage time during night shifts
