Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
- Provide compassionate support during meal times and help with feeding as needed
- Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report any changes to nursing staff
- Document care, observations, and interventions accurately and timely
- Support mobility and safe transfers to reduce fall risk and promote independence
- Work collaboratively with the care team to follow individualized care plans
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
Qualifications
- GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program (required)
- Current state-required nursing assistant registry status for Maryland
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or the willingness to obtain upon hire
- Clear background check and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong communication skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of a certified Nursing Assistant or GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care and common age-related conditions
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and mobility support
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with basic infection control practices and safe patient handling
- Strong observational skills and clear, professional communication
- Team-oriented approach and a positive attitude toward resident care
