Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding with dignity and respect
• Provide compassionate, person-centered care tailored to the needs of older adults
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Support safe mobility and fall prevention by assisting with transfers and ambulation
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care, observations, and resident needs
• Help create a warm, home-like environment by engaging residents in conversation and meaningful activities
• Adhere to infection control protocols and facility policies to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent in-state credential
• Previous experience working with elderly or long-term care residents preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with nursing teams
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing respectful, compassionate care
• Willingness to complete facility onboarding requirements (background check, TB screening, immunizations as required)

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of elder care principles and common age-related conditions
• Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, assisting with ADLs, observing/reporting changes
• Good documentation practices and familiarity with electronic or paper charting
• Strong interpersonal skills and patience when supporting residents with cognitive or physical limitations
• Ability to follow care plans and directions from licensed nursing staff
