Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) while preserving dignity and comfort
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Take and record basic vital signs and report any concerning changes to the nursing team
- Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in daily routines and activities
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations in facility charts or EMR
- Follow infection control protocols and contribute to a clean, safe environment
- Collaborate with nurses and multidisciplinary staff to support individualized care plans
- Respond promptly to resident needs and call bells with professionalism and empathy
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (required)
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
- Comfortable assisting with transfers and lifting (facility equipment and training provided)
- Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric setting is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an approved GNA training program and active certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident-centered care
- Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
- Good documentation habits and attention to detail
- Knowledge of infection control best practices and PPE use
- Ability to follow care plans and escalate clinical concerns appropriately
- Teamwork, time management, and respectful communication with residents and staff
