Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) while preserving dignity and comfort
• Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Take and record basic vital signs and report any concerning changes to the nursing team
• Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in daily routines and activities
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations in facility charts or EMR
• Follow infection control protocols and contribute to a clean, safe environment
• Collaborate with nurses and multidisciplinary staff to support individualized care plans
• Respond promptly to resident needs and call bells with professionalism and empathy

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (required)
• High school diploma or GED (preferred)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
• Comfortable assisting with transfers and lifting (facility equipment and training provided)
• Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric setting is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an approved GNA training program and active certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident-centered care
• Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
• Good documentation habits and attention to detail
• Knowledge of infection control best practices and PPE use
• Ability to follow care plans and escalate clinical concerns appropriately
• Teamwork, time management, and respectful communication with residents and staff
