Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to patients, including assistance with activities of daily living
- Assist nursing staff with vital signs, patient observations, and timely reporting of changes
- Support safe patient transfers and mobility, following proper body mechanics
- Help maintain a clean, comfortable environment for patients and participate in infection control practices
- Document care and communicate clearly with the care team to ensure continuity
- Engage patients with dignity and respect, fostering a positive patient experience
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification valid in New Mexico
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
- Strong communication skills and comfort working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Compassionate approach to patient care and a professional bedside manner
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with ADLs (bathing, dressing, feeding) and mobility assistance
- Basic vital signs measurement and reporting
- Comfortable with electronic or paper charting and clear documentation
- Understanding of infection prevention and patient safety protocols
- Ability to follow care plans and accept direction from licensed nursing staff
