Shift Type: Monday-Friday primary day shifts with variable day windows: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM (no call/no weekends option), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 7:00 AM - 11:00 PM, or 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Facility open 7:00 AM - 11:00 PM. Call rotation: 1 weekday call per month and 1 weekend call per month. Day shift (with call rotation)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $42 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure all neurosurgical instrumentation and supplies are ready for each case
• Scrub and/or circulate during complex neurosurgery cases such as craniotomies, tumor resections, spine fusions and deep brain stimulation
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently to support optimal OR flow and patient safety
• Document perioperative care and case details in Cerner and Suginet accurately and timely
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and team huddles to maintain high-quality care across 11 OR suites
• Support infection control and AORN best practices in every procedure
• Assist with room turnover and case setup to help maintain high daily case volumes

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of surgical technologist experience (neurosurgery OR experience strongly preferred)
• BLS certification required
• CST certification preferred; CNOR and ACLS are preferred credentials
• Comfortable working with EMR systems, specifically Cerner and Suginet
• Ability to scrub and circulate; prior neurosurgery case experience a major plus
• Willingness to participate in call rotation (1 weekday call/month, 1 weekend call/month) and holiday rotations
• Able to complete a one-week OR floor-specific orientation

Education

• Certificate or diploma in Surgical Technology or equivalent
• CST certification preferred
• High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep familiarity with neurosurgical instrumentation and procedures (crani, tumor, carotid, spine, shunts, DBS)
• Strong sterile technique and OR best practices
• Proficiency with Cerner charting and Suginet systems
• Able to work efficiently in a high-volume OR environment (20-25 cases/day typical)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills within multidisciplinary teams
• Flexibility to float to general surgery when needed
