Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, Day shift 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM and Night shift 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, rotating schedule with weekend coverage (Sat/Sun day coverage; Fri/Sat night coverage), typical every-other-week (EOW) pattern, 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality labor and delivery nursing care, managing both low- and high-risk deliveries with skill and compassion
- Monitor fetal well-being using advanced fetal heart monitoring and Fetal Link/Phillips surveillance systems
- Perform rapid assessment and interventions for obstetric emergencies in coordination with Laborists and the care team
- Collaborate with nurses, OB providers, NICU staff and ancillary teams to ensure safe transfers and continuity of care
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to support patient safety and care coordination
- Educate and support patients and families through labor, delivery and the postpartum period
- Participate in unit-specific orientation and competency checks, including a proctored dysrhythmia test on day one
- Float to pediatrics or accept feeders and growers in NICU when qualified, assisting with couplet care as needed
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for California practice
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (obstetric experience strongly preferred)
- Current BLS, ACLS, NRP certifications and Advanced Fetal Monitoring required
- Adv-AWHONN (AWHONN) certification or equivalent per unit requirements
- Ability to pass an on-site proctored dysrhythmia test (pass/fail) on day one
- Comfort with 12-hour rotating shifts and weekend expectations
- COVID-19 vaccination required as part of facility policy
Education
- Active RN license for California
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma accepted; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong fetal heart monitoring interpretation and advanced fetal surveillance skills
- Obstetric nursing fundamentals including labor management, postpartum care and neonatal transition
- Proficiency with Cerner charting and Fetal Link/Phillips monitoring systems
- Competence in emergency response, dysrhythmia recognition and acute maternal/newborn stabilization
- Ability to work within California staffing ratios and adapt to fast-paced acute care settings
- Teamwork, clear communication and family-centered education skills
