Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings and act decisively to support safe deliveries
• Titrate drips including pitocin, insulin and magnesium sulfate with precision
• Provide compassionate couplet care and postpartum nursing for mothers and neonates
• Float to MedSurg and ER as needed, providing flexible, high-quality nursing support across the hospital
• Collaborate with the charge nurse, OB/neonatology teams and ancillary staff to meet unit metrics and quality goals
• Troubleshoot Philips telemetry and EFM traceview/PIP systems and document findings in Meditech
• Maintain clear communication with patients and families, educating and advocating throughout labor and recovery

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice (or compact license where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; labor and delivery experience highly preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification required
• ACLS, NRP and STABLE preferred
• Comfort with titration of drips and management of pitocin, insulin and magnesium sulfate
• Previous travel experience preferred and ability to float to MedSurg and ER
• Strong critical thinking, adaptability and communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) acceptable; BSN not required
• Active RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal strip interpretation and intermediate fetal monitoring
• Titration of drips and management of high-acuity OB scenarios
• Couplet care (mother and baby) and neonatal care basics
• Experience with Meditech EMR, EFM traceview/PIP and Philips monitors
• Telemetry troubleshooting and basic RT equipment familiarity
• Ability to follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios and hospital quality metrics
