Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage labor and post-partum patient care with confidence, ensuring safe deliveries and smooth recoveries
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring and interpret tracings to support timely clinical decisions
• Triage obstetrical patients and prioritize care based on acuity
• Place and calibrate IUPC devices accurately to monitor uterine activity
• Administer medications and advanced therapies including anticoagulation, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate
• Maintain central lines (CVC/PICC) and manage IV therapy and phlebotomy safely
• Circulate for C-section and assist with sterile vaginal exams when needed
• Document thoroughly in Epic and coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams
• Provide patient and family education, emotional support, and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Active RN status (pending licenses are not accepted) and travel nurse eligibility
• Minimum 2 years of labor & delivery and post-partum experience (seasoned traveler preferred)
• Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP
• AWHONN Advanced is a plus
• Strong travel nurse experience required — seasoned travelers preferred; locals not accepted
• Experience with 1:3 patient ratios and ability to float to like units when needed
• Epic charting experience required
• Strong precepting skills preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor and Delivery management and high-risk antepartum care
• Fetal monitoring interpretation and interventions
• IUPC placement and calibration technique
• Triage skills for obstetrical patients
• IV therapy, phlebotomy and central line (CVC/PICC) maintenance
• Medication administration including critical drips and emergency meds
• Circulating in the OR for C-sections and performing sterile vaginal exams
• Isolation precautions/PPE and infection control best practices
• Proficient use of Epic electronic charting system
