Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care for medically complex patients in a PCU setting
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and perform EKG-related duties (must pass EKG exam)
• Document patient care thoroughly and accurately using Epic
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute care plans
• Respond promptly to changes in patient status and initiate appropriate interventions
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment and discharge planning
• Maintain safe patient ratios (typically 1:4-5) and escalate concerns to leadership when needed
• Float within scope to similar units to support staffing needs

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (no pending licenses accepted)
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH
• Proven PCU or progressive care experience preferred
• Comfortable with telemetry and progressive-level patient care
• Must pass facility EKG exam (no exceptions)
• Experience charting in Epic is highly desirable
• First-time travel nurses are welcome

Knowledge & Skills

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) clinical skills and judgment
• EKG interpretation and cardiac monitoring proficiency
• Strong Epic documentation and electronic charting skills
• Ability to manage multiple patients at acute-to-progressive acuity
• Critical thinking, rapid assessment and effective prioritization
• Clear communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
• Adaptability to float between like units when needed
