Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients rapidly and accurately as they enter the emergency care system
• Provide comprehensive respiratory care following physician orders, policies, and best practices
• Perform diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic interventions for cardiopulmonary conditions
• Communicate changes in patient status and diagnostic results clearly to ED physicians and the care team
• Educate patients, caregivers, and the community on respiratory conditions and care plans
• Collaborate with the Respiratory Medical Director and Department Manager to ensure quality care

Qualifications

• Current Utah State Respiratory Therapist Licensure (required)
• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy (required)
• Valid, active NBRC credential in good standing (required)
• BCLS and ACLS certification (required)
• AARC/USRC membership preferred
• Ability to triage safely, rapidly, and accurately in an emergency care setting

Education

• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy

• Respiratory therapy techniques and cardiopulmonary assessment
• Patient assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and therapeutic interventions
• Emergency department communication and teamwork
• Triage decision-making under pressure
• Patient and caregiver education best practices
