Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert intraoperative scrub assistance for vascular, cardiac (open heart) and thoracic procedures
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure the surgical field meets safety standards
• Prepare, organize and manage surgical instruments, implants and supplies for complex cardiac and vascular cases
• Document perioperative care accurately in Epic charting and communicate critical information to the surgical team
• Anticipate surgeon needs during procedures to keep cases efficient and safe
• Participate in on-call rotation and weekend coverage; float between specified facilities when needed
• Adhere to facility infection control, safety protocols and observed holiday staffing guidelines

Qualifications

• Active Surgical Technologist credential or completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program (preferred)
• Required experience in vascular and open heart (cardiac) surgery; thoracic surgery experience strongly desired
• 1-2 years of relevant surgical technologist experience preferred; first-time travelers are accepted
• Comfortable floating between Betsy and Central Harnett facilities as needed
• Ability to work call shifts and weekends per assignment
• Pending licenses are not accepted — must have active/valid licensure as required by the facility
• Familiarity with Epic charting or willingness to learn quickly

Education

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Intraoperative assistance and scrub technique for complex cardiac and vascular procedures
• Strong sterile technique and instrument handling
• Proficient with Epic charting and perioperative documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-pressure OR environments
• Ability to triage priorities and anticipate clinical needs during surgery
• Adaptability to float between facilities and work variable start/end times
