Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate respiratory care and airway management to patients across the lifespan
- Assess respiratory status, interpret ABGs, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the care team
- Manage and troubleshoot ventilators and other respiratory support devices with precision
- Perform and document respiratory procedures, treatments, and response to interventions
- Respond quickly and effectively during code situations and respiratory emergencies
- Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions, home therapies, and equipment use
- Participate in Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and complete the required skills checklist
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and facility licensing requirements
Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license for Oregon (license/certificate verification required)
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications (all required)
- Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing as requested
- Current fit test, drug screen, required immunizations/vaccinations, and physical/health statement
- Experience in acute care respiratory therapy preferred (ICU, ED, or neonatal/pediatric experience a plus)
- Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and effective communication skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy (required) — Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- NBRC credentials (CRT or RRT) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in ventilator management and mechanical ventilation strategies
- Skilled in airway management, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medication delivery
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gases and adjust treatment plans accordingly
- Familiarity with neonatal and pediatric respiratory support (NRP/PALS-level skills)
- Comfortable documenting in electronic health records and following facility protocols
- Strong infection control practices and code response capabilities
