Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; rotating schedule including 2 weekends every 4 weeks and coverage of 2 out of 3 major holidays (12-hour shifts, travelers typically guaranteed ~36 hours/week)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a high-acuity telemetry/PCU/stepdown unit
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and accurately read and interpret cardiac strips to detect changes
- Manage and titrate heparin per protocol and administer other non-titrating drips as indicated
- Deliver primary nursing when nurse aides are unavailable, prioritizing safety and continuity of care
- Collaborate with hospitalists, RTs, pharmacy and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
- Document accurately and timely in Cerner EMR (preferred) and participate in unit-based communication
- Float to med-surg as required and adapt quickly to changing patient assignments and acuity
- Support stroke and post-CVA care pathways and follow established protocols for post-op and PCI patients
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license (eligible to submit in California)
- Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry/stepdown experience
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
- Proven ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips independently
- Comfortable with BiPAP and caring for respiratory failure and post-cardiac cath patients
- Cerner EMR experience preferred (facility provides shorter orientation for Cerner-experienced nurses)
- Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including required weekend and holiday coverage
- Must not be permanent or per diem at another CommonSpirit facility within the past 12 months and cannot hold a second job during assignment
Education
- Active RN license (California)
- BSN preferred but not required
- Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Cardiac monitoring equipment familiarity (GE telemetry environment)
- Stroke care and NIHSS competency
- Experience with BiPAP and respiratory support management
- Heparin titration protocols and safe medication administration
- Primary nursing in settings with variable nurse aide availability
- Ability to work in 1:4 patient ratios in a high-acuity environment
- Competence with Cerner charting and electronic documentation workflows
